Especially interested in hearing from people who have actually walked the trips this tool is estimating.

Tell us about a real trip

This is the most useful thing anyone can send. The calorie model is built on published physiology, and physiology has error bars — the only way to know whether it is right for real Ontario backcountry trips is to compare it against ones that happened.

If you have been out recently, we would like to know:

  • Where you went, how many days, and roughly the distance and climb
  • What you carried, and what you actually ate
  • Whether you finished hungry, finished with food left over, or got it about right

A plan looked wrong

Send the plan link. The whole trip is encoded in it, so that link alone is enough to reproduce exactly what you saw — no screenshots needed.

Worth flagging if a meal did not make sense together, if a portion looked absurd, or if the food weight was obviously off for the trip.

Something in the food data is wrong

Nutrition figures come from USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts, and both contain mistakes. Allergen errors are the ones we most want to hear about, and we will act on those first.

Anything else

Questions, feedback, or a trail we should know about: ctm313@gmail.com.

One thing worth saying plainly: this is not a service that can help you in the field. If something goes wrong on trail, contact the local authorities, not us.
